King Mohammed VI expresses solidarity, empathy with Donald Trump after assassination attempt

King Mohammed VI expressed solidarity and empathy with former US president Donald Trump who survived an assassination attempt while on a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

In a message to Trump, the King wishes Trump prompt recovery so that he can “continue to serve your great nation.” On the same occasion, the King strongly condemned political violence.

“My thoughts and prayers are with you, Mr. President, your family, and the innocent victims of this deplorable act,” the message concludes.

Under the Trump administration, the US recognized Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara territory and promised to open a consulate there.

Trump was shot in the ear as he stood in front of crowds at a fairground in Butler where one bystander was killed in the shooting and two others were critically injured.

The shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was immediately killed by the Secret Service.
