Hydrocarbon: ExxoMobil’s ESSO gets two offshore reconnaissance contracts in Morocco

Esso Exploration International Ltd., a subsidiary of U.S. ExxonMobil Corp., signed on Tuesday in Rabat two reconnaissance contracts with Morocco’s National Office of Hydrocarbons (ONHYM).

These reconnaissance contracts cover the areas of Safi-Essaouira Offshore and Agadir-Ifni Offshore. The areas are located offshore the cities of Safi, Essaouira, Agadir and Sidi Ifni.

The signing of these contracts marks the first exploration activity engaged by ExxonMobil in Morocco since the merger of the two entities Exxon and Mobil in 1999. 14 companies are partners of ONHYM in 19 Petroleum Agreements and one (1) Reconnaissance Contract.

The American company Exxon Mobil Corporation is one of the largest publicly traded energy and petrochemical companies in the world. ExxonMobil affiliates have interests in hydrocarbon exploration and production projects in more than 20 countries, in addition to petrochemical, refinery and energy products distribution activities all over the world.
