Biotechnology: Morocco & India’s Serum Institute discuss cooperation in vaccine manufacturing

Morocco is looking forward to benefiting from the experience and know-how of Serum Institute of India in vaccine manufacturing and biotechnology to ensure its vaccine sovereignty.

Cooperation prospects between the North African Kingdom and the Indian Institute were at the center of a meeting held Tuesday in Rabat between a delegation representing the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer and Moroccan health minister Khalid Ait Taleb, Managing Director of Mohammed VI Investment Fund & Member of the Board of Directors of “Société Maroc Biotechnologie” Mohamed Benchaaboun, and plant manager of Société Pharmaceutique Maroc Biotechnologie (Marbio), Younes Hilali.

Talks focused on ways of strengthening cooperation in vaccines & biopharmaceutical industry and benefiting from the expertise of the Indian biotech company within the frame of public-private partnership.

King Mohammed VI spearheads Morocco’s efforts engaged to enable the country secure self-sufficiency in vaccines and become a leading biotechnology platform on the African continent and the world in the fill & finish pharmaceutical industry.
