Morocco & UK discuss cooperation in security, counterterrorism & transnational crimes

Ways of strengthening cooperation between Morocco and the United Kingdom in counterterrorism and cross-border crimes were at the center of talks held in London by Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director-General of national police & domestic intelligence agency with several top British security chiefs.

During his two-day working visit, which started Tuesday, Hammouchi met with Ken McCallum, Head of Domestic Intelligence Service (MI5) and other counterterrorism officers.

Talks focused on issues of common interest and on regional and international security challenges, said a press release issued Thursday by the Moroccan National Police Directorate.

At Scotland Yard HQ, Hammouchi conferred with Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley and with Counter-Terrorism Police Chief Sir Matt Jukes, who is also Met Police Assistant Commissioner.

During the London trip, Hammouchi and his accompanying delegation visited several British security facilities, including the Met Police Command & Control Center.

This visit took place within the framework of cooperation and coordination set between the two countries’ security and intelligence services to counter common threats.
