Egypt poised to promote yachting tourism
Egypt’s Ministry of Transport will hold a Conference on Wednesday January 3 in the New Administrative Capital to explore ways to enhance the establishment of local and international marinas and boost yacht tourism in the North African country, Ahram Online reports.
Investors and stakeholders in yacht tourism and marina construction, investors in coastal villages and tourist destinations along the Mediterranean and Red Seas, the Gulf of Suez, and Aqaba are expected to attend the event.
The conference is in line with the country’s ambition to be a premier yacht tourism destination.
Early in December 2023, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly approved permitting the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) to co-establish Suez Canal for Modern Boats, a company that will manufacture, maintain, and export yachts and maritime units.
Seven companies were already affiliated with the SCA for the company’s creation back at the time of the announcement.
Also in July 2023, the country extended the visas granted to foreign yacht tourists to three months instead of one.
Egypt’s geographical location makes it an ideal country for attracting yacht tourism. Its waterways are connected with Europe, other areas of Africa, and Asia, and under the new decision, yachts can depart the country from any tourist port of their choosing. Authorities also adopted a uniform docking tariff at all government docks, passenger stations, and tourist ports.
Yachting enthusiasts now reportedly have the freedom to choose their docking location based on announced prices, provided services, and the desired tourist itinerary.
