Aeronautics: Safran Commits to Support Morocco’s Aerospace Ecosystem
Safran group, a leader in aircraft equipment manufacturing, has pledged to support and develop further Morocco’s aerospace industry ecosystem which continues to attract foreign investment.
Under an agreement signed Wednesday with the Moroccan government, the French company, which designs, develops and manufactures aircraft engines & rocket engines, pledges to support its local suppliers and service providers for the expansion of their production capacities.
Safran also commits to strengthening research & technology activities, training and partnerships with Moroccan engineering schools and universities.
Speaking during signing ceremony, Abdellatif Miraoui, Moroccan Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research & Innovation, praised the commitment shown by Safran to help develop the country’s aerospace industry and foster partnership with local universities in the fields of R&D, engineering, testing and simulation.
For his part, Taoufiq Moucharraf, Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry & Trade, said the agreement confirms the competitiveness of Morocco’s aerospace ecosystem, noting that partnership with Safran opens up new prospects for more production activities, new engineering services and the development of local skills.
Olivier Andriès, CEO of Safran, said the multinational company and the Moroccan government are writing a new chapter in their strategic partnership focused on the development of a robust aerospace industry ecosystem in Morocco.
“We are jointly committed to a pragmatic approach that puts talent development, industrial efficiency, innovation and sustainability at the heart of our collaboration”, underlined Mr. Andriès.
Safran has been present in Morocco for 24 years and employs over 4,200 people in eight local companies and joint ventures.
