Morocco condemns Israeli bombing of Qatar’s Gaza Reconstruction Committee HQ

Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita expressed Morocco’s condemnation of Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip, the latest of which is the bombing of the headquarters of the Qatari Committee for Gaza Reconstruction, in violation of international law rules and international humanitarian law.

“There is, of course, great concern about what is happening, particularly the human losses among civilians due to Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip, the latest of which is the bombing of the headquarters of the Qatari Committee for Gaza Reconstruction,” Bourita said during a joint press conference with his Hungarian peer, Peter Szijjarto, Wednesday in Rabat. He pointed out that Morocco condemns such acts.

Bourita added that the death of a large number of civilians, as King Mohammed VI stressed in his speech at the Arab-Islamic Summit held last weekend in Riyadh, is “unacceptable, whatever the party behind these acts.” Morocco clearly condemns that Israeli forces continue to kill children and women in Gaza, he said.

He recalled that the Sovereign called for urgent and tangible de-escalation, to stop military attacks to pave the way for a permanent and verifiable ceasefire, and to ensure the protection of civilians and prevent their targeting.

Bourita also stressed that a political perspective relaunching the two-State solution paves the way for achieving a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.

In the absence of a political perspective, the region will always remain in a phase of crisis management with its share of tension, violence and counter-violence, the minister added.

In this regard, he noted that the international community and influential countries shall go beyond this stage concerning the Palestinian cause to move on to the stage of restoring confidence with a view to launching serious negotiations leading to a just, comprehensive, and lasting solution to this issue, in accordance with international legality resolutions and on the basis of the two-State solution.

This situation requires that everyone demonstrate rigor and responsibility to put an end to Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and to make the logic of reason and wisdom prevail with a view to establishing a just and lasting peace in the region and to guaranteeing security and stability for all its peoples, he argued.
