Morocco stresses before UNESCO its full commitment to youth inclusion

Morocco is “fully committed” to the economic and social inclusion of young people, stressed, on Tuesday at the UNESCO Youth Forum, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid.

The 13th UNESCO Youth Forum, held as part of the 42nd session of UNESCO’s General Conference (November 7-22), focuses this year on the social impact of climate change and the need to achieve an equitable climate transition.

Bensaid highlighted the various initiatives put in place by Morocco to integrate and include young people at cultural, social, and economic levels, such as the “Awrach” program and the “pass jeunes” application.

The Minister also stressed that the Kingdom is strongly committed to climate and environmental action, highlighting Morocco’s various investments in the wind and solar power sectors.

The Forum, which provides a platform for exchanges between youth ministers from different countries and young people, gives young people the opportunity to make their voice heard by policy-makers.

“The issues are different from one country to the next, but are ultimately interconnected, because we live in the same world,” noted the Minister.

On the sidelines of this Forum, held as part of the 42nd session of UNESCO’s General Conference (November 7-22), Bensaid held talks with the Ethiopian Minister of Women and Social Affairs, Ergoge Tesfaye.

The meeting was an opportunity to reaffirm the desire of both parties to further promote cooperation ties between Morocco and Ethiopia in the cultural and social fields.
