Togo’s capital to host AFIS annual summit Nov. 15-16

Africa’s financial industry platform (AFIS) has chosen Lome as host of its second Annual Summit on November 15 and 16, 2023, for the second time in a row. This year’s Summit will focus on the building of a “world-class African financial industry.”

AFIS, backed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank’s private sector investment arm, presents itself as “stimulator of dialogue between governments, regulators and top banks, insurance companies, mobile money operators and fintech in a continent whose growth potential is curtailed by a misdirection of available funds.”

The platform, according to its LinkedIn page, aims at building a robust financial industry to serve real economy and sustainable development. Founded by ‘Jeune Afrique Media Group’ in 2021, AFIS is a sister organization of the AFRICA CEO FORUM, a leading platform of the African private sector.

Last year, over 800 delegates from 50 countries took part in the two-day summit held in Lome (Nov. 28-29). The delegates included Finance ministers, governors of Central banks and regulators.
