Spanish Defense Minister Commends Moroccan Armed Forces for Supporting Spain’s Rescuers
Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles has expressed her appreciation for the logistical support provided by Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces (FAR) to Spanish rescuers, enabling them to carry out their mission effectively following the earthquake that struck several Moroccan provinces on September 8.
During a visit to a military base in Guadalajara, central Spain, Robles praised the deployment of FAR helicopters to transport Spanish rescuers to hard-to-reach areas. She also commended the collaboration of Moroccan authorities with the Spanish team to provide necessary support to the affected populations.
“The Spanish rescuers will stay in Morocco for as long as necessary,” she continued, highlighting that the Spanish search and rescue teams have been delighted with the hospitality and support of the local population.
Just hours after their arrival in Morocco, the Spanish rescuers expressed their admiration for the professionalism of Moroccan teams and their efforts in rescue, evacuation, and care for the injured in the aftermath of the earthquake.
