FIFA women’s rankings: Atlas Lionesses climb 14 spots

Morocco’s women football team jumped from the 72nd to the 58th place in latest FIFA rankings. The Atlas Lionesses earned their new standing after making history in their first World Cup appearance.

At the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup finals hosted by Australia & New Zealand, the Atlas Lionesses, who lost their opener against Germany 6-0, defeated South Korea 1-0, and beat Colombia 1-0 to advance to the last 16, triggering outpouring solidarity and popular celebrations for their remarkable journey.

In Africa, Morocco ranks 4th standing behind Nigeria, South Africa, and Cameroon.

Sweden tops the current FIFA women’s rankings. Spain comes in the 2nd place followed by the United States, England, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Japan, Brazil, and Canada.
