Italy charms Congo to back candidacy to host Expo 2030

Italy is counting on Congo-Brazzaville to back a bid to organize World Expo 2030 in the city of Rome, the European country’s ambassador to the African country indicated Saturday.
Luigi Diodati, marking the 77th anniversary of national celebration, indicated that Rome is counting on Brazzaville to win rights to host the global event.
The Italian city is in competition with Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Odessa (Ukraine) and Busan (South Korea).
Italian authorities early last month launched an official campaign to host the World Expo 2030 in the historic city. The Italian bid has adopted “the people and the region” as the theme.
The Bureau des Expositions Internationales (BIE) based in Paris will make a review of candidates for the “2030 Expo” and eliminate the weaker candidates. In October this year it will host the final vote of the 170 member countries on which city will get to host the event. Italy through the city of Milan already organized the World Expo in 2015.
