Elections – Guinea-Bissau: Former Cameroonian footballer Samuel Eto’o invited to animate Madem-G15 campaign
The former Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o arrived in Guinea-Bissau Monday to animate the election campaign of the Movement for Democratic Change (Madem-G15), announcing the party that is running for the legislative elections on June 4.
Currently president of the Cameroon soccer Federation, Eto’o is being announced in the official organs of Madem-G15 as a “guest of honor” of the party. A former star of Spain’s FC Barcelona, Eto’o, 40, is expected to remain in Guinea-Bissau until Wednesday. The former player’s schedule has not yet been released.
A poster of the party inviting him presents the image of Samuel Eto’o, dressed in suit and tie, smiling, in the middle of the leader of Madem-G15, Braima Camará, candidate for Prime Minister, and the President of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló.
A soccer ball inside a net is also part of the illustration of the poster widely disseminated on social networks of supporters of the party that is currently part of the Government in office in Guinea-Bissau.
Last week, also at the invitation of Madem-G15, the former Portuguese-Mozambican footballer Abel Xavier was in Guinea-Bissau for a campaign with young people. Madem-G15 is one of 20 parties and two coalitions contesting the legislative elections on June 4. The electoral campaign, which began on May 13, runs until June 2.
