FIFA Club World Cup draw ceremony held in Morocco
The FIFA Club World Cup draw ceremony was held at the Mohammed VI Center in Mamoura, this Friday noon. The ceremony was attended by Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Football Associations, Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football, and Fawzi Lakjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, as well as club representatives, participation in the World Cup.
Under the draw, Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club will face Saudi Al-Hilal team, the Asian champion. The winner of the opening match between Egyptian Al-Ahly, the runner-up of the African continent, and Auckland City of New Zealand, the champion of Oceania, will face the American Seattle Sounders, North American Champion.
In the Golden Square, Real Madrid, the European champion, will play against the winner (Al-Ahly or Auckland City) of the match with American Seattle, while the Brazilian Flamengo, the Copa Libertadores champion, will face the winner of the Wydad-Al-Hilal match.
This is the third time that Morocco is hosting the FIFA Club World Cup finals after 2013 and 2014, which were crowned by the victory of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, respectively.
The Club World Cup will unfold February 1 through 11, 2023. Matches will be played in Rabat and Tangier.
