Morocco-UN cooperation in matters of child protection reviewed in Rabat

Cooperation between Morocco and the United Nations in the field of child protection was reviewed at a meeting in Rabat between Princess Lalla Meryem, President of the National Observatory for the Rights of the Child, and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Violence against Children Najat Maalla M’jid.

During the meeting, Princess Lalla Meryem highlighted the vision and strategy drawn by King Mohammed VI to promote children’s rights over the past two decades, and that translated into various reforms, mechanisms and instruments for the protection of children, as well as the adoption of integrated public policies.

Princess Lalla Meryem reiterated the Kingdom’s readiness to back and support the initiatives and projects of the United Nations to consolidate the rights of the child.

She also surveyed the historical, indisputable and fundamental role of the National Observatory for the Rights of the Child, as a catalyst and federator of initiatives for the promotion and consolidation of children’s rights in Morocco.

Najat Maalla M’jid on her part highlighted the working strategy deployed by the UN agency in various countries and expressed her strong will to consolidate the cooperation of the United Nations with Morocco in the field of child protection.
