Tunisia- Instalingo case: Rached Ghannouchi leaves interrogation scot-free

Rached Ghannouchi, the leader of the Islamist Ennahdha movement, Tunisia’s largest political forces, was let free Thursday, after his interrogation in a court in the city of Sousse, in connection to an investigation into “Instalingo” case in which he is suspected of calling for an armed uprising against President Kais Saied.

Ghannouchi was set free while Kaïs Saïed remained prisoner of the walls of his palace, eaten away by his blind hatred and destroyed by his isolation because of his bad faith, the son-in-law of the Ennahda leader, Rafik Abdessalem, said.

Ghannouchi was summoned for hearing by the investigating judge of Sousse Court of First Instance, in connection to the “Instalingo” case.

Authorities in September last year arrested seven people in Sousse governorate on alleged crimes of breach of national security. Several people including Ghannouchi were named in the case and accused of “an attack aiming at changing the form of government, inciting people to arm themselves against each other, provoking disorder, murder and pillage on Tunisian territory.”

The court freed the detainees but three of them were ordered not to leave the country.

“There was no evidence to support the prosecution. The judge had asked me questions about my relationships with people I did not know. Being an honest judge, no charges were brought against me and I was released. We are living today with practices that remind us of those already experienced in the Bourguiba and Ben Ali era. That said, the days of the dictatorship are now numbered,” he said, in criticism of Tunisia’s President Kais Saied.
