Guinea launches construction of National Social Welfare Fund
Guinea Conakry Premier Bernard Goumou launched Monday the construction of the National Social Welfare Fund (CNPS); a project to cost 7.3 million euros.
The future facility is a 10-storey building and the construction is valued at around 7.3 million euros.
“This ceremony gives me the opportunity to tell you how pleased I am to see a major contract come to fruition, and I will personally follow its progress. I will not make a big speech today. I will save that big speech for the big day, the day of the inauguration ceremony of this great project,” said Goumou.
The launching took place on the first anniversary of ruling junta’s seizure of power after it toppled elected leader Alpha Conde.
The CNPS is led by Colonel Aminata Diallo, member of the junta led by Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya.
The fund will manage civil and military retirement pensions.
