Morocco chairs transport forum ITF 2022 Summit in Leipzig

The Summit of the International Transport Forum (ITF 2022), held under the theme “Transport for Inclusive Societies”, kicked off, Wednesday in Leipzig, Germany, under the presidency of Morocco.

The three-day event, which brings together delegations from some 80 countries, is chaired by the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohammed Abdeljalil.

As the first Arab and African country to join the ITF in 2015, Morocco was given the presidency of the Forum for the 2021-2022 term, given the efforts and projects undertaken by the Kingdom in the field of transport and its geostrategic position at the regional and continental levels.

In addition to ministers of transport, the ITF summit brings together businessmen, representatives of international organizations, parliamentarians, policymakers and researchers to discuss global mobility and transport-related issues.

More than 80 sessions and side events will explore various aspects of the theme of inclusion: from connectivity for rural communities to the digital divide, from workforce diversity in the transport sector to inclusive planning and design.

The forum will be an opportunity to showcase Morocco’s experience in the transport sector and to highlight its regional and continental leadership.

The International Transport Forum is an intergovernmental organization with 63 member countries. It acts as a think tank for transport policy and organizes the Annual Summit of transport ministers. ITF is the only global body that covers all transport modes. The ITF is administratively integrated with the OECD yet politically autonomous.
