Tunisian Moeni Chaabani, only Arab coach in course for IFFHS Men’s World Best Club coach 2021 award

Tunisian Moeni Chaabani, current boss of Egyptian football club Al Masry and former head coach of Tunisian giants Esperance de Tunis, has been nominated for the 2021 International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) Coach of the Year award.

The 40-year old former soccer player is the only coach in the Arab world to be shortlisted for the award.

He is in competition with global top managers from Europe and around the world. Front runners include Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, Man City’s Spanish technician Josep Guardiola, and Mauricio Pochettino of Qatar-owned Paris Saint Germain.

The winner will replace former FC Bayern manager Hans Diter Flick who won the prize last year.

Chaabani started his managing career at Esperance as assistance coach from 2016 to 2018 before he was given the full management of the successful Tunisian soccer team from 2018 until this year. He joined al Masry in September.
