Morocco forges ahead with children vaccination
Over 1.78 million pupils received their first dose by Sept. 24 and 206,700 have been fully vaccinated with Pfizer and Sinopharm jabs which the government opted for to bolster collective immunity.
The start of the school year was delayed until Oct. 1 until children aged 12-17 have been vaccinated as Morocco maintains leadership in Africa as the country that has administered most doses so far.
Up to now, Morocco inoculated over 20 million people including 18.3 who took two shots as the country maintains steady vaccine supply.
On Friday, Morocco received a shipment of 4 million Sinopharm vaccines. The country administered mostly Sinopharm, AstraZeneca and Pfizer in addition to a smaller shipment of Jansen.
In total, Morocco has received 54.1 million doses since it launched its national vaccination campaign in January.
Morocco has registered 899581 cases, including 849,681 recoveries and 13,436 deaths. Now there are 17,591 active cases in the country.
