Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Joey Hood is expected in Morocco this week, the office of the spokesperson for the State Department announced in a statement.

While in Morocco, the Acting Assistant Secretary will meet with Moroccan government officials, local business leaders, as well as with civil society leaders.

He will also visit the American Legation Exhibit at the National Library of Rabat, the statement said.

The exhibition is celebrating the 200th anniversary of the founding of the American Legation in Tangier, the United States’ first diplomatic property overseas, and two centuries of friendship between Morocco and the United States.

The exhibition, “Of Voice and Stone–200 Years of History in the American Legation Building and Morocco,” features a range of priceless historic items that represent the strategic, economic and cultural ties between the two countries.

Joey Hood’s visit to the Kingdom will take place during a tour July 24-29 that will also take the US official to Algeria and Kuwait.
