US to support Morocco’s vaccination campaign with $2.5 million

The US will donate $2.5 million to Morocco in support of its sustained vaccination campaign, the largest in Africa and one of the top 10 most successful in the world.

A spokesperson for the US embassy in Rabat said that USAID has given Morocco 10.7 million dollars in support of its coronavirus response.

It is not clear yet if Morocco will use any of the vaccines developed by the US.

So far, Morocco ordered 66 million doses from AstraZeneca and Sinopharm and is examining Russia’s Sputnik.

Morocco had over 90% of jabs administered on the African continent and was congratulated by WHO for the success of its campaign.

So far, 4.17 million people received the first coronavirus dose and 1.22 million received the second dose.
