Morocco to host 24th General Assembly of World Tourism Organization

Marrakech will be the venue for the 24th General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), an event that marks the beginning of the recovery of a sector hit-hard by the pandemic.

A deal was signed between Moroccan Tourism Minister Nadia Fettah Alaoui and UNWTO Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili.

The Moroccan Minister highlighted that the holding of the general assembly in Morocco sends a reassuring message to international and Moroccan tourism operators, after the rolling out of vaccination campaigns across the globe.

The event will offer a key post-pandemic venue to discuss challenges and prospects for tourism globally, she said.

Pololikashvili, who also met head of the Government Saad Eddine El Othmani and Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, reiterated the support of the UNWTO for Morocco especially in these very difficult times, with the launch of interesting projects, while paying particular attention to the education/training sector.

He said Morocco is well positioned to help other African countries unlock their tourism potential.
