Morocco calls for upholding Skhirate political Agreement in Libya
Morocco reiterated its call for safeguarding Libya’s territorial integrity and restoring stability in the war torn country urging a return to the table of negotiations on the basis of the UN-led Skhirate agreement.
In a phone call with foreign minister of the internationally recognized government of national accord (GNA) Mohamed Siala, Morocco’s foreign minister Nasser Bourita stressed the primacy of the Skhirate agreement as a basis to any political solution in Libya.
The two officials agreed to maintain consultations, said the Libyan foreign ministry.
Morocco has not yet officially commented on the truce initiative led by Egypt, which many analysts see as a step to save its ally Khalifa Haftar after a crushing defeat that pushed him out of Triploli’s suburbs.
