Nigeria: villages destroyed by the army – AI  

Amnesty International called on Friday for an investigation into military operations in northeastern Nigeria, where at least three villages have been razed to the ground by soldiers fighting the jihadists.

Attacks have intensified in recent months in northeastern Nigeria, where the Islamic State jihadists in West Africa (ISWAP), a branch of the Nigerian Boko Haram group, affiliated with the Islamic State, are operating.

Attacks focus on the road to Maiduguri, capital of the state of Borno.
