Morocco closed 2019 with a record number of 13 million tourists visiting the country, that is a 5.2% rise compared with 2018, the tourism ministry said.

Tourism revenues rose to 78.6 billion dirhams in 2019, from 73.15 billion dirhams in 2018, making the sector one of the main sources of hard currency for Morocco.

With such a performance, Morocco maintains its leadership as Africa’s most visited country.

Western European countries continue to dominate arrivals as the country seeks to diversify tourism emitting markets with a particular focus on the US and China.
