Congo’s Sassou-Nguesso Deplores Absence of Morocco at Berlin Conference on Libya

President of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, who is the chairman of the African Union High Level Committee on Libya deplored that Morocco was not invited to the Berlin Conference, and recalled that “it is in Skhirat (in Morocco) that the United Nations had set up the Libyan institutions currently recognized by the international community.”

The Congolese President who hosted the 8th meeting of the AU High Level Committee on the Libyan crisis on Thursday Jan. 30 in Brazzaville, welcomed “all these initiatives which can contribute to bringing peace, stability and national reconciliation in Libya”.

In an interview with the French magazine Le Point, he however deplored that certain countries were not invited to take part (in some meetings), because, he said, the resolution of this crisis cannot be lasting without the implication of all the countries concerned.

“We are thinking of Morocco, because it was in Skhirat that the United Nations had set up the Libyan institutions currently recognized by the international community,” said the Congolese head of state.
