Geneva: Exhibition on Morocco’s UN Peacekeepers & Humanitarian Action

An exhibition paying homage to Morocco’s Blue Helmets and their global humanitarian action is currently hosted at the UN Office in Geneva on the sidelines of the first Global Forum on Refugees.

The event, organized by Royal Armed Forces (FAR), reflects Morocco’s commitment to peace, security and humanitarian missions throughout the world. It also highlights the experience gained by Moroccan soldiers in promoting the universal values of solidarity and delivering humanitarian aid & medical assistance to disaster stricken countries.

In a statement made at the exhibition inauguration, UNHCR’s director of the forum, Daniel Endres, commended the exhibition, saying it celebrates Morocco’s humanitarian actions and its role in maintaining peace in different countries around the world, alongside the United Nations.

Junior Minister of Moroccan Expatriates, Mrs Nezha El Ouafi, noted that the exhibition highlights Morocco’s contribution to peacekeeping operations and humanitarian action worldwide and shows Morocco’s commitment to promoting international peace and security.

This exhibition provides the opportunity to share experience and expertise in the setting-up of field medical-surgical hospitals across the world since 1993, she added.

Morocco is one of the longstanding supporters and contributors of troops to the UN peacekeeping operations. Over 70,000 Moroccan Blue Helmets are deployed worldwide.
