Morocco’s King deeply saddened by demise of President Essebsi, ‘one of the great men of Tunisia’
King Mohammed VI expressed deep sorrow at the demise of President Béji Caïd Essebsi that he described as “one of the great men of Tunisia”.
In a message of condolences to speaker of the parliament Mohamed Ennaceur- who was later in the day sworn-in as interim President- King Mohammed VI said he was deeply saddened by the news of the death of the Tunisian Head of State, “one of the great men of Tunisia who devoted his life to serving his country and contributed with selflessness and devotion to the building of the modern state”.
The Sovereign said in these painful circumstances, he recollects the qualities of the deceased and the great political skill he has shown in leading his country, especially after his election as head of state.
Béji Caïd Essebsi has worked with earnest and with a spirit of exemplary patriotism to complete and foster the democratic process of his country and strengthen its renaissance and development within the framework of security and stability, the King pointed out.
“The Kingdom of Morocco recalls with esteem the bonds of solid fraternity and active solidarity which linked the deceased to the Kingdom and his firm determination to establish solid and exemplary relations of cooperation between the two countries, in addition to his sincere attachment to unity and the greatness of the brotherly Maghreb peoples,” the King said in this message.
The Monarch expressed in this painful circumstance to Mohamed Ennaceur, the family of the deceased and the brotherly Tunisian people, on his behalf and on behalf of the Moroccan people, his heartfelt condolences and sincere feelings of compassion.
