King Mohammed VI to Take Part in Paris Peace Forum
King Mohammed VI flew Thursday to Paris where he is expected to meet French President Emmanuel Macron.
According to Le360 e-journal, during his few-day visit, King Mohammed VI will meet French President Emmanuel Macron and will take part in the first Paris Peace Forum, scheduled for November 11 to 13 in the French capital.
The Sovereign had actually received from the French Head of state an invitation to participate in the Forum, recalled Le360.
This global platform, initiated by the French President, is intended to respond to the rise of tensions in the contemporary world.
According to organizers, it is a new annual event based on a simple idea: international cooperation is key to tackling global challenges and ensuring durable peace.
To support collective action, it gathers all actors of global governance under one roof for three days – states, international organizations, local governments, NGOs and foundations, companies, experts, journalists, trade unions, religious groups and citizens, organizers said.
The forum, held in connection with the commemoration of the centenary of the end of World War I (1914/1918), is organized by an NGO founded in 2018 by the Körber Foundation, the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, the Institut français des relations internationales, the Institut Montaigne, Sciences Po and the French Ministry for European and Foreign Affairs.
Just two days after the Paris Peace Forum, French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Morocco at the invitation of King Mohammed VI for the launch on November 15 of the Tangier-Casablanca high-speed train.
