Organization of Eastern Caribbean States Supports Morocco’s Stance over Sahara
Prime minister of Saint Lucia, Allen Michael Chastanet, in his quality as president of the secretariat of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), has reiterated support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.
Chastanet told the press after a meeting with head of the government Saad Eddine El Othmani in Rabat Saturday that the OECS backs Morocco in its efforts to preserve its territorial integrity.
Chastanet also thanked Morocco for the relief it sent following hurricanes that hit the Caribbean region.
He said his meeting with Othmani was an occasion to examine means to foster bilateral cooperation and reinforce relations between the two countries’ private sector, via the opening of an OECS diplomatic office in Morocco.
For his part, head of the government welcomed the position of St Lucie and the OECS in favor of Morocco’s territorial integrity and unity.
On this occasion, El Othmani underscored Morocco’s willingness to bolster bilateral ties with the OECS at the economic, trade and tourism levels.
