Hamid Chabar, Accredited as Morocco’s New Ambassador to Mauritania
Hamid Chabar has been officially accredited as Morocco’s new ambassador to Mauritania.
The announcement was made Thursday by the Mauritanian Government’s spokesperson and Minister of Culture Mohamed Lemine Ould Cheikh.
Hamid Chabar officially received the approval of the Nouakchott authorities, the spokesperson said, hailing Mauritanian-Moroccan relations as “excellent” and stressing that these relations “are governed by historical, cultural, economic and security ties”.
The Mauritanian Government Spokesman’s announcement cuts short rumors propagated by Algeria about a so-called “refusal” of the Nouakchott authorities to accredit Hamid Chabar as Morocco’s ambassador.
Hamid Chabar has been nominated to the position few months ago to succeed Ambassador Abderrahmane Benomar, who passed away in December 2016.
