Morocco: Italian Magneti Marelli to open shop in Tangier
The Italian car component producer will launch an automotive plant in the city of Tangier for the production of shock-absorbers for car and commercial vehicle.
The plant will start production in 2019 and will create up to 500 jobs when in full flesh, by 2025.
The project will necessitate a global investment of around 37 million euros. Magneti Marelli has chosen the city’s industrial zone free as site. The plant will cover an area of 20,000 m2.
Signing of an agreement took place between company and the Moroccan state Tuesday.
The Italian company said the initiative seeks to supports its clients locally in the North African region.
The subsidiary of former FIAT and now FCA Italy designs and produces advanced systems and components for the automotive industry.
The company runs 86 production units and 12 R&D centers in 19 countries and boast work force of 43,000 employees. Founded in 1919, it made last year a turnover put at 7.9 billion euro.
