SOGEFI to Build Car Components Factory in Tangiers
Italian car part maker, Sogefi, announced that it will build its first industrial site in Africa in Tangiers to manufacture two new models of engine filters
“The plant, which will start operating at the beginning of 2018, will manufacture two different models of engine filtration systems (a metal diesel filter and an oil filtration module) for original equipment manufacturing (OEM) and original equipment spares (OES) for various vehicle types,” SOGEFI said in a statement.
The new factory will stretch over a surface area of 10,000 square meters in the Tangiers free zone and will employ 120 people, the statement said.
The company added that potential new business initiatives currently under negotiation could increase the size of the plant to 25,000 square meters and the number of employees to 300, noting that “total investment could reach €10 million.”
The statement highlights the growing car industry in Morocco, which braces to see production rise to 1 million vehicle per year by 2025.
