Over 1.3 UK tourists travelled to Morocco in 2025 and spent an estimated £1.19 billion, according to latest data released by the UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Each British tourist stayed about seven nights in rated hotel accommodations and spent an average of £920 during their Moroccan trip, showed the figures published by the UK independent governmental statistical institute.

In 2025, Morocco received a record 19.8 million tourists up 14% from a year earlier. According to the latest data of the High Commission for Planning (HCP) tourism contribution to Moroccan GDP rose 11.7% in 2025 to 129.7 billion dirhams, from 116.2 billion in 2024. Subsequently, the sector’s contribution to national GDP strengthened from 7.2% in 2024 to 7.5% in 2025, “thus confirming the growing weight of tourism in the national economy”. Tourism is a key source of jobs and foreign currency.

Morocco has opened additional air routes to key tourist markets, while promoting new destinations within the country and encouraging the industry to renovate and open new hotels.

The North African Kingdom looks forward to reaching 26 million tourists by 2030, when it will co-host the soccer World Cup with Spain and Portugal.
