Saïdia Mediterrania is continuing to roll out its environmental program through the 2026 summer season, with waste sorting, beach equipment, visitor awareness efforts and soft mobility among the actions deployed as the resort seeks to balance tourist numbers with coastline protection. The approach is reflected in the renewal of the Blue Flag distinction, with Saïdia’s beach holding the label for the 14th consecutive year and its Marina for the 10th, both accompanied by facilities and services for visitors under the Clean Beaches program.
The beach offers free parking, showers, toilets and foot-rinse stations, along with access arrangements for people with reduced mobility, while an environmental awareness kiosk runs educational activities for younger visitors focused on coastal protection. Waste management has also been reinforced for the summer, the period of highest visitor traffic, with coordination meetings held with the Marafik Berkane local development company to help hotels and tourism operators adapt collection services to their activity levels.
On the ground, the Saïdia Development Company has acquired more than 23 new waste bins to complement existing equipment, while a sorting centre at Medina Mall now separates plastic, cardboard and household waste. The resort also reported a marked drop in mosquito presence following environmental treatments carried out outside the tourist season. Saïdia Mediterrania favors plantings suited to the local climate and requiring less water, while promoting soft mobility through bicycle, electric scooter and electric two-wheeler rentals, and pursues Green Destinations and HQE Sustainable Development certifications.
Beyond its environmental measures, the resort is also working to strengthen its entertainment offering and local roots, with beach rugby competitions, golf events, music festivals, art exhibitions and gallery openings among the activities planned for the season. Showcasing regional products and craftsmanship forms part of the same approach, with shops and pop-up spaces at Medina Mall and the Marina offering visibility to local terroir goods and artisanal crafts, a presence also expanding within the resort’s hotels.
Through these combined efforts, Saïdia Mediterrania is seeking to anchor its tourism development in a model that pairs environmental quality with visitor experience, destination programming and the economic development of the surrounding territory.
