Morocco and the United Kingdom have expressed willingness to consolidate further military cooperation during a meeting held Tuesday in Rabat between Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate in charge of the National Defense Administration and Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren, UK Defense Senior Advisor for MENA region.
During this meeting, the two officials praised the excellent ties existing between the two Kingdoms and reviewed bilateral military cooperation, enhanced by the regular meetings of the joint military commission, the exchange of visits by high-ranking officials, military training and interoperability through joint exercises.
During the meeting, Loudyi has highlighted the various South-South cooperation initiatives spearheaded by King Mohammed VI for Africa’s stability and prosperity.
For his part, UK Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren praised the royal leadership, making Morocco a key player for peace and stability, particularly in the MENA region.
Morocco and the United Kingdom maintain a strong defense partnership anchored by joint military exercises, defense industry, interoperability.
Morocco-UK cooperation is based on a legal framework, notably the 1993 Framework Agreement for Military and Technical Cooperation, the 2013 Status of Forces Agreement and Mutual Support (SOFA), as well as other technical arrangements.
