Morocco’s women football national team began their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with a 4-0 win over Kenya in their opener played Sunday at Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat.
The Moroccan goals were scored by Ibtissam Jraidi (netted two goals), Sakina Ouzraoui and Meriem Atiq as the Atlas Lionesses produced a dominant performance in front of their home supporters.
The hosts imposed themselves through sustained possession, aggressive pressing and sharp movement, while the Kenyans, who are making their return to the continental finals after a decade away, tried to remain compact, but could not keep up with building pressure from Moroccans.
With their victory, the Atlas Lionesses take the lead of their Group A including Algeria and Senegal. 16 African teams are participating in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) taking place in Morocco from July 26 to August 16.

Morocco, Algeria, Senegal, Kenya, South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Tanzania, Nigeria, Zambia, Egypt, Malawi, Ghana, Cameroon, Mali, Cape Verde.
The North African Kingdom is hosting tournament for the third consecutive time.
