Taekwondo: Morocco’s Women Team Crowned World Champion 2026

Morocco’s women taekwondo team stunned the international martial arts community by winning the World cup championships 2026 held lately in South Korea.

The Moroccan team was composed of Merieme Khoulal, Fatima-zahra Ennams, Nada Laaraj, and Amina Dehhaoui. They showed high technical skill, agility, resilience, fast reflexes, discipline and power. They challenged competitors from the world’s strongest taekwondo nations.

They knocked out Kazakhstan in the quarter-finals before ousting Thailand in the semi-finals. The Moroccan women fighters defeated the Russians in the final to win the gold medal and lift their first-ever World crown. Russia finished second, while Iran ranked 3rd in the tournament after beating Thailand.

Taekwondo is very popular in Morocco which has hundreds of registered clubs across the country. The sport’s core values, respect, discipline, and self-control, deeply resonate with traditional Moroccan family values, making it a highly trusted extracurricular activity for parents.
