Wave of Support for Morocco Following the Dismantling of ISIS-linked Plots Targeting Kingdom’s Security and Stability

Following the announcement by Moroccan authorities that they had dismantled terrorist cells receiving logistical and operational support from ISIS Sahel branch, several Arab countries and institutions voiced their support for the measures taken by Rabat to protect public order, citizens, and residents, while praising the vigilance of Morocco’s security services.

The Gulf Countries, namely Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, as well as Jordan and the Arab Parliament have strongly condemned the terrorist plots foiled in Morocco in statements issued by their respective foreign departments. They have all reaffirmed their solidarity with the Kingdom and their support for the measures taken to safeguard its security, stability, and sovereignty.

They also praised Morocco’s security response after the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) said Monday it had arrested 10 people suspected of preparing attacks in coordination with ISIS-linked actors in the Sahel.

In this connection, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said Abu Dhabi strongly condemned the plots and stood in full solidarity with Morocco in any measures taken to protect its security, stability and residents.

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry said Riyadh rejected attempts to undermine public order or threaten people and property in Morocco. It also praised the efficiency of Moroccan security services and reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s rejection of terrorism and extremism.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said Doha condemned the plots aimed at destabilizing Morocco and endangering public safety. It also reiterated Qatar’s position rejecting violence and terrorism, regardless of motives, and expressed support for Morocco’s measures to preserve security and stability.

Bahrain on its part strongly condemned and denounced the terrorist plots targeting the security and stability of Morocco.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bahrain also praised the efficiency and vigilance of Morocco’s security and intelligence services, which succeeded in thwarting these criminal plots, identifying those responsible—who are linked to a branch of the terrorist organization ISIS in the Sahel region.

Oman also condemned, in a statement by its Foreign Ministry, the terrorist plots that sought to undermine the security and stability of Morocco and reaffirmed its solidarity with Rabat in the measures it is taking to safeguard its security, territorial integrity, and the safety of its society.

Oman reiterated further its unwavering position rejecting all forms of violence, extremism, terrorism, and incitement to such acts, regardless of their motives or justifications.

Kuwait also expressed, in a statement issued by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, its condemnation and denunciation of the terrorist plots thwarted in Morocco, which targeted the country’s security, stability, and the safety of its citizens and residents.
The ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with Morocco and its support for all measures taken to preserve the Kingdom’s security, sovereignty, and stability.

For its part, Jordan, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, condemned the terrorist plots targeting public order as well as the safety of people and property in Morocco, describing them as an unacceptable attempt to undermine the North African Kingdom’s security, sovereignty, and stability.

The ministry’s official spokesperson, Ambassador Fouad Al-Mujali, affirmed Jordan’s full solidarity with Morocco and its support for all measures taken to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability. He also reiterated Jordan’s rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at destabilizing states.

Likewise, the Arab Parliament strongly condemned the terrorist plots targeting Morocco’s security, territorial integrity, and stability, as well as the safety of its citizens and residents.
Its Speaker, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi, praised the vigilance and professionalism of Morocco’s security services, which succeeded in thwarting the plots and identifying those responsible.

He reaffirmed the institution’s full support for Morocco and all measures taken to safeguard its security, sovereignty, and stability, stressing that Morocco’s security is an integral part of Arab national security.

He concluded by reiterating the Arab Parliament’s categorical rejection of all forms of terrorism and extremism and called for enhanced Arab, regional, and international cooperation and coordination to combat terrorism, cut off its sources of funding, and strengthen security and stability throughout the region.

The condemnations followed Moroccan raids in several cities, including Agadir, Casablanca, Tetouan and Safi, where authorities dismantled a terrorist cell linked to the Islamic State’s affiliate in the Sahel region, thwarting a highly dangerous plot that had reached an advanced stage of preparation.

The searches uncovered weapons, military-style clothing, extremist documents, electronic devices, and propaganda material associated with ISIS. Authorities also recovered handwritten manuscripts containing detailed instructions on the manufacture of explosive devices, as well as digital recordings featuring pledges of allegiance to the terrorist organization and threats to carry out attacks inside Morocco.
