Morocco’s National Observatory for Children’s Rights (ONDE), chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem, signed a partnership agreement with UNESCO aimed at advancing the right to education in the country, the two institutions said.
Under the agreement, ONDE will support the implementation of the project titled “Assess to Transform: The Right to Education in Morocco,” a flagship initiative aligned with the Kingdom’s strategic education reforms and the vision and directives of King Mohammed VI.
The project seeks to carry out a systemic analysis of the alignment between Morocco’s legal framework and public policies and its international commitments on the right to education.
It also aims to strengthen national capacities in rights-based analysis and to develop a coherent, prioritized and operational roadmap to support ongoing reforms in the education sector.
According to the partnership framework, the project’s implementation may be further enhanced through complementary actions, including training sessions for national stakeholders involved in education and child rights.
Through this collaboration, ONDE and UNESCO aim to promote the effective realization of the right to education by placing a child rights-based approach at the heart of public policymaking. The initiative also seeks to position Morocco as a pilot country for self-assessment of the right to education at the regional level.
