GITEX Africa Morocco 2026 Sets New Records, Cementing Kingdom’s Tech Ambitions

The 4th edition of GITEX Africa Morocco is set to take place from April 7 to 9 in Marrakech, and all indicators point to a landmark event. With over 1,450 exhibiting companies and startups, more than 400 international investors representing over 350 billion dollars in assets, participants from over 130 countries, and an expected attendance surpassing 50,000 visitors, the 2026 edition marks a decisive step in the event’s ascent to global relevance.
The scale of this year’s participation reflects Morocco’s growing centrality in the continent’s digital transformation landscape. A particularly striking milestone is the inclusion of 300 Moroccan startups — a 50% increase over the previous edition — representing 31 sectors and 32 cities across the Kingdom. This breadth signals the depth and geographic spread of Morocco’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, extending well beyond the traditional urban hubs.
Amal Fellah Serghouchni, Morocco’s Minister of Digital Transition, underscored the strategic dimension of the event: ‘For Morocco, GITEX Africa is much more than an international event. It is a strategic showcase for our digital ecosystem, a lever for attracting investment, and an accelerator of growth for our startups.’ Her remarks reflect a national ambition that goes far beyond hosting — Morocco is positioning itself as a producer, manager, and exporter of digital solutions.
Amine El Mezouaghi, Director General of the Digital Development Agency (ADD), articulated this shift clearly: ‘Morocco will no longer be just a consumer of technologies, but will become a designer, manager, deployer, and exporter of its own artificial intelligence models.’ He described GITEX as a genuine catalyst for this transformation, driving an ecosystem-wide shift that is reshaping the country’s economic landscape.
For Trixie LohMirmand, CEO of KAOUN International, Morocco’s selection as the first country to host a global GITEX spin-off was no accident: ‘The Kingdom’s strategic position speaks for itself.’ In an uncertain global environment, she argued, events like GITEX Africa serve a vital role in reinforcing cooperation, enabling exchanges, and building a shared future grounded in innovation and investment. GITEX Africa Morocco is no longer merely a trade show — it is fast becoming a defining institution of Africa’s digital economy.
