CAF Appeal Board Declares AFCON Final Match won by Atlas Lions 3-0, Morocco is Africa’s Champion 

The CAF Appeal Board decided that in application of Article 84 of the Regulations of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Senegal National Team is declared to have forfeited the Final Match of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025, with the result of the Match being recorded as 3–0 in favor of the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF), the CAF said in a press statement released this Tuesday.

On the appeal by the FRMF regarding the application of Articles 82 and 84 of the Regulations of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the CAF Appeal Board declared the FRMF appeal admissible in form and the appeal is upheld.

According to the press statement, he Appeal Board decides to set aside the CAF Disciplinary Board decision, finds that the conduct of the Senegal team falls within the scope of Articles 82 and 84 of the Regulations of the Africa Cup of Nations, and declares that the protest lodged by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) is upheld.

The Appeal Board said that ‘It is declared that the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF), through the conduct of its team, infringed Article 82 of the Regulations of the Africa Cup of Nations,” and that “in application of Article 84 of the Regulations of the Africa Cup of Nations, the Senegal team is declared to have forfeited the match, with the result recorded as 3–0 in favour of the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF).”

The Appeal Board which pointed out that “all other motions or prayers for relief are dismissed” issued a number of rulings concerning player of the Morocco National Team, Ismaël Saibari, upholding his misconduct in violation of Articles 82 and 83 of the CAF Disciplinary Code, amending the suspension of 2 matches to one match is suspension, and setting aside the fine of $100,000 imposed on the player.
Meanwhile, the Board partially upheld the appeal lodged in respect of the ball boys incident, confirming the finding that the FRMF is responsible for the conduct of the ball boys during the aforementioned match, but reducing the fine imposed on the Moroccan Federation in respect of the ball boys incident to $50,000.
Meanwhile, the appeal lodged in respect of the interference around the OFR/VAR review area was dismissed and the fine of $100,000 imposed on the FRMF was confirmed.

As to the appeal lodged in respect of the laser incident, it was partially upheld and the fine imposed on the FRMF in this respect was reduced to $10,000.
