Morocco’s King Represented at Inauguration Ceremony of Chile’s President

King Mohammed VI was represented at the inauguration ceremony of new president of Chile José Antonio Kast by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi El Alami.

The ceremony was held at the coastal city of Valparaíso in presence of King of Spain Felipe VI and several world leaders including the Presidents of Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador and Paraguay as well as representatives of
several other countries around the globe.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives was accompanied at the ceremony by Morocco’s Ambassador to Chile, Kenza El Ghali.

After winning the presidential election in Chile, King Mohammed VI sent a message of congratulations to Mr. José Antonio Kast and wished him success in his mission of leading Chilean people to greater progress and prosperity.

The new president of Chile Kast is a far-right politician who built his career railing against liberal values from the fringes of Chilean politics. Kast won a resounding victory over his leftist rival in a runoff in December, taking over 58% of the vote with his hardline approach to public security and illegal immigration.

His ascent to the presidency marks an abrupt departure from the progressive agenda of former leftist President Gabriel Boric.
