Mauritania: EU, Western Allies Reaffirm Support for Ukraine at Nouakchott Event

The European Union on Tuesday reiterated its solidarity with Ukraine during a diplomatic event in Nouakchott marking the fourth anniversary of the start of the Russo-Ukrainian War.

In a statement, the EU said ambassadors from the “European Group”, alongside representatives of the United States, the United Kingdom and Japan, expressed their continued support for Ukraine and its people.

The ceremony was attended by Ukraine’s chargé d’affaires accredited to Mauritania, underscoring sustained diplomatic backing amid the protracted conflict.

Separately, the German Embassy in Nouakchott reaffirmed Berlin’s commitment to Ukraine’s independence and the restoration of its sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognised borders.

Germany’s Ambassador to Mauritania, Florian Reindl, participated in the event hosted at the EU mission in Nouakchott, signalling continued European engagement on the issue.
