Morocco-Brazil World Cup 2026 tickets skyrocket as Atlas Lions rising profile fuels demand

Ticket resale prices for the 2026 World Cup have surged sharply on FIFA’s official resale platform, with some seats listed at more than seven times their original value as global demand intensifies.

A Category 3 ticket for the June 11 opener between Mexico and South Africa in Mexico City was posted at $5,324, compared with an initial $895, while a seat for Morocco’s June 13 match against Brazil in East Rutherford climbed to $1,725, far above the original $265–$700 range.

Interest in Morocco matches is particularly high, reflecting the Atlas Lions’ growing global stature. Morocco made history at the 2022 World Cup, becoming the first African and Arab team to reach the semi‑finals, eliminating Spain and Portugal before finishing a celebrated fourth.

The Atlas Lions were on the verge of winning the African Cup of Nations last month when they made it to the final.

The July 19 World Cup final saw its top-tier ticket jump from $7,875 to nearly $20,000.

Not all listings have inflated. One $620 ticket for Austria–Jordan in San Francisco appeared at $552. But the open resale system in the United States and Canada has helped prices soar.

In contrast, Mexican law prohibits profiting from ticket resales only when the tickets are purchased locally and in pesos.

FIFA has come under scrutiny for what fans call prohibitive pricing. FIFA cites “insane demand,” noting that 500 million requests during the second sales phase.
