French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed ties with Morocco as being in an “excellent” state, and highlighted major opportunities to deepen what he called an “exceptional, strengthened partnership” with the Kingdom.
Opening the annual Conference of French Ambassadors in Paris, Macron stressed the need to reinforce strategic alliances amid an increasingly unstable global landscape.
“We believe in consolidating partnerships. We have defended this approach, and we have put it into action,” he said, emphasizing both the guiding “philosophy” and the “effectiveness” behind France’s diplomatic posture.
Macron cited Morocco as one of the “very solid pillars” of France’s diplomacy in the Mediterranean, underscoring the “exceptional” nature of bilateral ties and the ongoing construction of “an extremely strong bond” between Paris and Rabat.
The French president also underlined the growing significance of economic diplomacy, calling for French foreign policy to adapt to accelerating geopolitical shifts.
Addressing Africa more broadly, Macron reiterated the necessity of reinforcing France’s partnerships across the continent.
“The African partnership is key, and we must complete the work undertaken by 2026,” he said, urging ambassadors posted in Africa to intensify their efforts.
Held annually in Paris, the Conference of Ambassadors gathers all French diplomatic representatives to set the main foreign policy priorities for the year ahead.
