The Spanish government has hailed UN Security Council resolution 2797 endorsing Moroccan Autonomy plan offered for the Sahara under the Kingdom’s sovereignty.
In a statement adopted following the 13th High-Level Moroccan-Spanish Meeting, held in Madrid, Spain reaffirmed its position expressed in the Joint Declaration of April 7, 2022, and welcomed the latest UN development on the Moroccan Sahara issue, urging UN Sahara Envoy to conduct negotiations on the basis of the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco.
Morocco and Spain signed 14 cooperation agreements during the 13th High-Level Moroccan-Spanish meeting held under the co-chairmanship of Heads of Govt. Aziz Akhannouch and Pedro Sánchez.
Rabat and Madrid have agreed to enhance further their strategic partnership in diplomacy, public governance, justice, finance, social protection, agriculture, fishing, digital, education, training, sports, culture, scientific research and anti-hate speech.
With these new agreements, the Moroccan-Spanish partnership will serve as a leverage for shared stability, development and modernization for both shores of the Mediterranean
