Morocco showcases CAN 2025 preparations to African ambassadors
Morocco showcased its preparations to host the African Cup of Nations, as an event bringing Africans together to celebrate diversity and foster unity.
In this respect, the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora hosted a high-level meeting between Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and head of the local organizing committee for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, and African ambassadors accredited in Rabat.
Lekjaa delivered a detailed briefing on the progress of preparations, stressing that Morocco approaches this continental event with a comprehensive vision inspired by the high royal directives, aimed at strengthening Africa’s unity through bilateral cooperation and joint continental action.
He emphasized that the success of the tournament would be a shared achievement for the entire continent, not just Morocco.
The Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 will take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, across six cities: Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Agadir, Marrakech, and Fez.
African diplomats expressed strong satisfaction with the pace and coordination of preparations, praising the synergy between institutions and describing Morocco’s approach as a solid guarantee for an exceptional edition of the competition.
To reinforce coordination, Lekjaa announced the creation of a communication and liaison unit between the organizing committee and African diplomatic missions. This unit will address logistical challenges and streamline procedures related to team travel, accommodation, and other operational aspects.
Participants highlighted the rapid mobilization of authorities and the dynamic development of sports infrastructure, noting that Morocco is on track to deliver a landmark tournament that reflects a new continental vision for hosting major events.
Concluding the meeting, Lekjaa reaffirmed that “The Kingdom considers this tournament as belonging to all of Africa and is determined to ensure its success, in line with the King’s directives and the continent’s ambitions.”
