Egypt concludes first day of phase 2 parliamentary elections amid voter complaints

Egypt concluded the first day of the second phase of its 2025 parliamentary elections on Monday, November 24, with millions of citizens turning out across 13 Governorates.

The National Elections Authority (NEA) reported that some 34 million eligible voters are participating in this stage, which will run until today, November 25. A total of 1,316 candidates are contesting 141 individual seats, with 9,200 judges overseeing the voting process to ensure fairness and transparency.

While several complaints and reports of irregularities were lodged by voters, the Ministry of Interior confirmed that authorities acted swiftly to address issues and maintain orderly proceedings.

Election results for this phase are expected on 2 December. Re-runs and run-off votes in affected constituencies have been scheduled for various dates throughout December, ensuring all disputes and irregularities are resolved before the parliamentary term continues.
